2022's crucial turning point: Bagnaia's anger in Germany

Thanks to ‘There Can Be Only One’, fans can get an insider look at how Pecco’s Sachsenring crash was felt in the Ducati box

It was the beginning of 2022’s title chase tide shifting towards Francesco Bagnaia and Ducati Lenovo Team.

After Pecco crashed out of P2 early in the race at Turn 1, and with World Championship leader Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™) going on to win, a glaring gap of 91 points stared the eventual trophy lifters in the face. Championship chase over? Pecco thought so: “No, because I’ve ****** up a World Championship like this!”

For a brief time after the crash, and seeing the blue corner claim the maximum 25-point haul, Ducati bosses also thought 2022 was a lost cause. However, as you’ll see in the documentary, that tune soon changed.

Anything can happen in MotoGP™ and even though Pecco was down by 91 points, nothing is ever over until it’s over in this sport. Seven days later, it was Pecco standing on the top step of the podium as Quartararo crashed twice to notch up what proved to be a costly no score.

Other noteworthy behind-the-scenes footage in ‘There Can Be Only One’:

There’s plenty of previously unseen footage to feast your eyes upon across the four episodes, including Quartararo visiting PSG and chatting to Kylian Mbappe, Joan Mir and Alex Rins reacting to Suzuki’s shock news, Marc Marquez noting Aleix Espargaro as an early title contender while sat in his motorhome, Marc Marquez reveals his targets upon his return to action in Aragon and much more.

Coming up over the next couple of weeks, we’ll have a closer look at Aleix Espargaro talking from the heart about his success and how important his wife and children are, Marc Marquez and Quartararo’s fight against the Ducatis, and the rising tensions between Bagnaia and Enea Bastianini as they fight for race wins in the latter stages of the season.
