Lorenzo visits Sokol Racetrack

A trip to Kazakhstan for Jorge Lorenzo after the Catalan GP, visiting the soon to be opened Sokol circuit.

In Almaty there was a presentation of the racetrack at ‘Sokol’ sports and leisure complex. This track will be ready for international competitions shortly. Specially for that, the current MotoGP™ World Champion visited ‘Sokol’ circuit and Almaty city. The purpose of the visit was to check the status of ‘Sokol’ racetrack that is now under construction.

The construction of the main circuit will be completed shortly. The track, which has a length of 4,495 meters and a width of 15 meters, was designed by the famous architect Hermann Tilke. It will be possible to organise such sports competitions as: the MotoGP™ World Championship, Superbike World Championship, DTM, WTCC and other championships.

Jorge Lorenzo visited Sokol Racetrack

Jorge Lorenzo came to Almaty and Sokol in 2015, and he was interested in following up the works and see onsite the state of the art circuit. After his race in Barcelona on and ahead of the race in Assen, he travelled to Almaty for two days.

On the first day (Saturday 11th) Lorenzo met local media during a visit around Sokol racetrack and the main building of the circuit. Later he participated in a press conference. The media representatives were able to ask him his opinion about the facilities. He was impressed.

"I am really looking forward to test the track riding a bike"

Lorenzo pointed out the importance of having such a facility and explained how the circuit will help to promote the country around the world and attract a lot of tourism to the area.  Finally, he explained some of the technical features of the track.

On the second day (Sunday 12th) he took the chance to visit again the city and he stopped in Esentai Mall to meet his fans and signed some posters for the crowd that came to see him.
