Lorenzo: “I pushed a bit TOO much!”

Reigning champion just misses out on pole after breaking record in FP3

Jorge Lorenzo (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) put in a sudden and stunning lap in Free Practice 3 to go round the Automotodrom Brno faster than had ever been done before on two wheels. The fight for pole position seemed to have a favourite, but the title defender then found last minute competition from compatriot and championship rival Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team). Just slotting into P2 in the final seconds of Q2, Lorenzo nevertheless is satisfied with his race rhythm and looks in superb form ahead of the race in Brno.

Jorge Lorenzo (P2): “I probably pushed a bit too much, too hard and was late on braking so I had not enough corner speed to be fast on the second tyre. I think the second tyre performed a bit less than the first one, so ultimately I couldn‘t be faster. We are happy with second place, especially because we have a good pace and a good set-up to keep up in the race.”
