Lorenzo: “Difficult to draw conclusions”

3-time MotoGP™ World Champion ends day 1 in Malaysia in P10

Jorge Lorenzo (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) finished Friday at Sepang in tenth on the timesheets, after electing for harder tyres and exiting pitlane for the final time in FP1 with four minutes on the clock. Not getting a full time-attack run sees the Mallorcan in P10 but optimistic about the new asphalt at the track after his first taste of the resurfaced venue, with Lorenzo eight tenths down on P1 but putting in a consistent early run that had saw him a top three runner until the final minutes. With FP2 a washout until late in the session, the Movistar Yamaha rider elected not to lap much in the afternoon.

Jorge Lorenzo (P10): “Today was a strange day with mixed conditions. In the morning we rode on the new asphalt for the first time and it seems grippy. We couldn‘t stay with the quickest riders because at the last stint we put in the hardest tyres and I didn‘t have enough time to improve the lap time. In the afternoon with the wet track it was complicated, because the asphalt started to dry up and finally we decided to stay in the garage. It‘s difficult to draw conclusions from today.”
