After some modifications were made during the 2016 Catalan GP following the tragic crash of Luis Salom in Moto2™ FP2 on Friday, permanent changes are to be applied to the layout of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya for MotoGP™. The new layout has a slightly shorter track length of 4652m, with work set to take place in January.
By requirement of the FIM, layout will be changed in the following ways:
- Use of the F1 layout of Turn 10
- New chicane after Turn 13
This new chicane is BEFORE the chicane used for Formula 1.
