JL99: “We’re making steps forward”

P11 on Day 1 in Phillip Island as Lorenzo settles into life in red

Jorge Lorenzo (Ducati Team) had a much better start to the second test of the year, as the Mallorcan ended the first day in eleventh having spent most of the session well inside the top ten. Unable to post an improvement as many others did, the five-time World Champion found some setbacks - especially with the hindrance of the wind - but also keeps making steps forward as he gets used to the very different Desmosedici of the Borgo Panigale factory.

Jorge Lorenzo, Ducati Team, Phillip Island MotoGP™ Official Test

After 61 laps, the 2010, 2012 and 2015 MotoGP™ World Champion had posted a best of 1:30.631.

Jorge Lorenzo, P11: “Here in Phillip Island we’ve begun much better than the first day in Sepang, with the base that we established during the test in Malaysia. The shame is that, during the last hour and a half, we weren’t able to improve whereas the rest of the grid did. It was difficult for us to lower the laptime due to the strong wind - and the final rear tyre we used didn’t have the grip we anticipated. The positive is that every day we make new conclusions and we’re making little steps forward.”
