Romano Fenati (Marinelli Rivacold Snipers) topped the first practice session at his home GP at Mugello, ahead of Championship rival Jorge Martin (Del Conca Gresini Moto3) and second Italian Nicolo Bulega (Sky Racing Team VR46). Points leader Joan Mir (Leopard Racing) was fourth, and did have a laptime cancelled for exceeding track limits - as did a number of riders as action opened for the Gran Premio d'Italia Oakley.
