Johann Zarco (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) followed up his fastest lap in FP4 to top Q1 and graduate through to the second qualifying session, joined by home rider Danilo Petrucci (Octo Pramac Racing).
One huge name to miss the cut was two-time GP winner Cal Crutchlow (LCR Honda), who will line up in P13 for the Italian GP. Hector Barbera (Reale Avintia Racing) also missed the cut to qualify fourteenth, with Monster Yamaha Tech 3 rookie Jonas Folger suffering a rare crash in the final two minutes, leaving the German lining up in P15 and also out of Q2.
