Davide Brivio, Team Manager of Team Suzuki Ecstar, confirmed during MotoGP™ FP1 at Mugello that the team are indeed in talks with Joan Mir to sign the Spaniard for 2019 – with the rumour mill having been in overdrive of late. So when will we get the announcement for sure?
“When everything is finalised,” says Brivio. “But it’s no secret we’re working on finalising the agreement with Mir.”
That’s definite confirmation, then, of the Hamamatsu factory’s interest – but contrary to rumour, the Italian says it’s not actually a done deal quite yet.
“It’s not yet concluded,” continues the Italian. “We’ve gone into the internal process and everything but we need a little bit more time. I hope everything will be concluded soon.”
Could that be in time for Mir’s home race next time out at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya?
