Moto2™ and Moto3™: KTM testing at Jerez

Eight lightweight and intermediate class teams on KTM machinery head to southern Spain for two days of private testing

The Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto will be hosting three days of Official Test from Wednesday on, but there’s one manufacturer that’s decided to head down early and stay ahead of the game: KTM. Some teams who will be racing with Austrian machinery this season are on track in Andalucia on Monday and Tuesday, including Kiefer Racing with Lukas Tulovic, the American Team of Joe Roberts and Iker Lecuona and Bester Capital Dubai’s Andrea Migno and Jaume Masia.

Red Bull KTM Ajo are one of the biggest presences, however, with youngest ever Grand Prix winner Can Öncü testing in Moto3™ as he prepares to race in the class full time and two riders on track in Moto2™: reigning lightweight class Champion Jorge Martin and hotly-tipped 2019 challenger Brad Binder. Joining the full house of Red Bull KTM Ajo are the new Red Bull KTM Tech3 squad, too – 2018 Moto3™ contender Marco Bezzecchi and GP winner Philipp Öttl – with some stiff competition expected between the two.

The Angel Nieto Team are another key presence in Jerez as they field both lightweight and intermediate class challengers, with GP winner Albert Arenas joined by reigning FIM CEV Repsol Moto3™ Junior World Champion Raul Fernandez in Moto3™, and Xavi Cardelus and Brit Jake Dixon preparing to line up in Moto2™.

The rest of the competition? They arrive on Wednesday for three full days of Official Test.
