Quartararo leads Yamaha charge in FP4

It’s a Yamaha one-two in Mugello thanks to a late lap from Maverick Viñales

Petronas Yamaha SRT’s Fabio Quartararo laid down quite the marker in FP4 at the Gran Premio d’Italia Oakley by jumping to the top of the timesheets with his final lap of the session. The MotoGP™ rookie posted a 1:46.799, indicating he’s got the race pace to challenge right at the front despite the Yamaha M1 struggling for top speed down the start finish straight.

Maverick Viñales made it a Yamaha one-two after the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP rider ended 0.078 of a second behind the Frenchman with his last lap. Repsol Honda Team’s Marc Marquez was shuffled down to third quickest after the late charge from the Yamaha M1 brigade.

Ecstar Suzuki Team’s Alex Rins ended fourth overall just ahead of Pramac Racing’s Jack Miller, on his Ducati Desmosidici, and the LCR Honda duo of Cal Crutchlow and Takaaki Nakagami were sixth and seventh.

So, with four manufacturers inside the top five in FP4, and Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Pol Espargaro ending Free Practice second overall, there looks like we could have five different factories fighting at the front on Sunday.
