Ogura on top in wet Moto3™ FP3

The heavens have opened at the Japanese GP and it’s the home rider who leads the way in tricky conditions, Migno remains fastest overall

Honda Team Asia’s Ai Ogura went fastest in a wet Moto3™ FP3 at the Motul Grand Prix of Japan thanks to a 2:08.385, putting him 0.046 ahead of second place Makar Yurchenko (BOE Skull Rider Mugen Race) as the duo finish almost eight tenths clear of the rest. Friday pacesetter Andrea Migno (Mugen Race) finished P3 ahead of qualifying.

Rain was heavily predicted for Saturday morning and it proved to be the case, with the lightweight class heading out to get what may prove to be valuable wet track time if the inclement weather stays for qualifying. Reigning FIM CEV Repsol Moto3™ Junior World Champion Raul Fernandez (Gaviota Angel Nieto Team) was fourth quickest, with Jaume Masia (Mugen Race) completing the top five.

John McPhee (Petronas Sprinta Racing) crashed during the session, rider ok.

This means the overall standings remain the same from Friday’s dry running, which means Migno, Marcos Ramirez (Leopard Racing) and McPhee are your top three from Free Practice in Japan. Click here to view the combined Moto3™ standings in full.

Tune in for Moto3™ qualifying at 12:35 local time (GMT+9).
