Lowes ruled out of the Qatar GP due to shoulder injury

The Brit bravely rode during Free Practice on Friday but a shoulder injury will keep him out of the opening Moto2™ round of 2020

EG 0,0 Marc VDS rider Sam Lowes has been ruled out of the remainder of the QNB Grand Prix of Qatar following medical advice to not risk further injury to his shoulder.

The Briton bravely rode yesterday and, despite barely any pre-season testing, was just over a second adrift of Joe Roberts’ (American Racing Team) new outright lap record. However, after further consultation on Saturday morning, the decision was taken to sit out the remainder of the opening round of the Moto2™ World Championship.

A team statement read: "Following the medical advice and in accordance with the team, Sam will no longer participate in the Qatar GP despite the good performance showed in yesterday’s free practices.

"The rider will focus on his recovery to be fully prepared to face the next Grand Prix.”
