Andorra opens kart track to MotoGP™ stars

Residents of Andorra across MotoGP™, Moto2™, Moto3™, MotoE™ and WorldSBK will be able to train in separate groups

After lengthy meetings and plenty of effort from everyone involved, the Pas de la Casa Andorra circuit has reopened its facilities to MotoGP™, Moto2™, Moto3™, MotoE™, WorldSBK and other professional motorcycle racers.

Reale Avintia - Circuito Andorra

This coincides with phase 2 of the governments Covid-19 deconfinement plan, with the Andorran Government working with the Ministries of Sport, Economy and Health to allow the riders to train again. In addition, the Automobile Club of Andorra, the Andorran Motorcycling Federation and the unconditional sponsorship of Credit Andorra, who have believed in the project from the beginning, have also made it possible. Raul Romero (Reale Avintia Racing Team owner and investor in the Andorra Circuit), Ruben Xaus (promoter of the Andorran project) and Alex Bercianos (Director of the facility) have also helped to achieve this.

The excellent management of the health crisis by the Andorran Government has led to the 22 professional motorcycle riders - nine of them in MotoGP™ - residing in Andorra being able to ride a motorcycle again and resume training on Wednesday the 13th of April. The riders will be split into two groups to avoid having more than 10 rider training at one time, which has been determined by a protocol of anti-infection measures validated by Computational Biologist Joel Lopez.

The two groups have been split like so:

Group 1:
Maverick Viñales (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP), Alex Rins (Team Suzuki Ecstar), Joan Mir (Team Suzuki Ecstar), Fabio Quartararo (Petronas Yamaha SRT), Pol Espargaro (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing), Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing Team Gresini), Tito Rabat (Reale Avintia Racing), Jorge Martin (Red Bull KTM Ajo) and Albert Arenas (Aspar Team Gaviota).

Group 2:
John McPhee (Petronas Sprinta Racing), Xavier Simeon (LCR E-Team), Xavi Cardelus (Avintia Esponsorama Racing), Chaz Davies, Xavi Fores, Leon Camier, Jules Cluzel, Hector Barbera, Randy de Puniet, Freddie Foret and Michael Fudala.
