Albert Arenas will make the leap up to Moto2™ with the Aspar Team in 2021. The current Moto3™ World Championship leader will compete in his sixth season with the team next year and will do so by moving up to the intermediate category, after having fought for the Moto3™ title in a season in which he has accumulated three victories and a total of five podiums to date. Next year he will be Aron Canet’s teammate and will ride a Speed Up.
Arenas began his career with the team competing in the Moto3™ Junior World Championship, where he achieved his first podium with the Aspar Team at home, in Barcelona, finishing third. In 2016 he competed in three Moto3™ Grand Prix: in Jerez and in Barcelona, as a wild card rider, and in the Netherlands, as a substitute rider. It would not be until 2017 when he finally made the permanent jump to the World Championship, achieving an eighth position in San Marino as the best result.
The 2018 season was the first in which Arenas was able to shine with his own light, when he debuted on the World Championship podium with a victory in France. That same year he repeated a victory again, this time in Australia, closing the year in ninth place overall. The year 2019 should have been the year of his fight for the title, but an injury at the beginning of the season frustrated his plans. However, in the final phase of the year he came back and finished with three consecutive podiums (victory in Thailand included) that awarded him the favourite tag for 2020.
This season, which started with victory in Qatar and continues, with five rounds to go, with the Solunion Aspar Team rider at the lead of the overall standings, is proving the maturity of Arenas, who is showing himself more reliable and intelligent than ever. Now, with the future in Moto2™ confirmed, Arenas will only have one goal in mind: the fight for the Moto3™ World Championship.

Albert Arenas: “I am very happy and excited to be able to make the leap to Moto2. I am satisfied to meet one of my main goals this year. The desire to go to Moto2 was getting higher and higher and I think the change comes at the right time. I have grown a lot as a rider and as a person and I am putting it into practice. I have trained a lot with the 600 and it is a very fun bike, more comfortable. I really want to get to Moto2 now, but I will continue to focus on this year to achieve the other goal we have. I am very excited to continue with the Aspar Team, which during its history has had many successes, and to be able to give them success myself is something very satisfying.
