Bastianini stays top of the timesheets after wet weather FP3

The Italian didn't have to take to the track as Jorge Navarro came out quickest in the tricky conditions

Jorge Navarro (HDR Heidun Speed Up) came out on top of a very wet FP3 on Saturday morning in Valencia, but he still couldn’t secure a place in Q2 as conditions denied riders the opportunity to improve their position at the Gran Premio de Europa. The Spaniard recorded a 1:46.668, which was still nine seconds outside the Top 14 on the combined times.

Stefano Manzi (MV Augusta Forward Racing) and Piotr Biesiekirski (NTS RW Racing GP) completed the top three on the session’s timesheets but, like Navarro, they were unable to force their way into Q2. Joining them in Q1 will be Luca Marini, with the Championship contender also falling victim to the weather conditions as he couldn’t find the pace needed to avoid the first Qualifying session.

Only 17 riders took to the track as they aimed to improve on yesterday’s performance as the like of Enea Bastianini (Italtrans Racing Team), Sam Lowes (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) and Joe Roberts (Tennor American Racing) did enough on Friday to watch on from the pitbox this afternoon.

Moto2™ Qualifying gets underway at 15:50 (GMT +1).

Top 10 combined:
1. Enea Bastianini (Italtrans Racing Team) – 1:36.804
