Lecuona tests positive for Covid-19, ruled out of Valencia

Upon his arrival following 10 days of quarantine in Andorra, the Red Bull KTM Tech3 rider has produced a positive PCR test

Following a 10 days quarantine in his Andorran home, after he had been in close contact to his brother and assistant, who tested positive for Covid-19 last week, Red Bull KTM Tech3’s Iker Lecuona was travelling to Valencia this early morning in order to compete in FP3 and the rest of the Gran Premio de la Comunitat Valenciana.

At his arrival, the Red Bull KTM Tech3 rider had to undergo another swab PCR test, producing a positive result. Therefore, Lecuona has to miss this weekend’s Valencia GP, but will undergo further test, hoping that he will be able to take part in the final round of the 2020 season next week. Luckily, the Spaniard doesn’t show any symptoms.

Herve Poncharal, Team Manager: “We have sad news today. Although Iker has been tested negative three times, the last test he took this morning at the entrance of the circuit showed positive. Therefore, he won’t be able to enter the circuit and participate at the Gran Premio de la Comunitat Valenciana. He will be tested furthermore in order to understand if ever he can fly to Portugal to participate at the last Grand Prix of the season in Portimao.”
