Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Brad Binder put in a stunning performance in Q1 at the Gran Premio Motul de la Comunitat Valenciana to progress through to the fight for pole position. The rookie was forced to push at the start of the session with rain starting to fall around the Circuit Ricardo Tormo but he wasn't flustered, setting a 1:30.810 to take top spot.

Petronas Yamaha SRT's Fabio Quartararo was in Q1 for the first time in his MotoGP™ career but was able to progress, putting behind him what has been up to this point a very difficult weekend for the title challenger. He will aim to take the title chase to Portimao on Sunday afternoon, another man aiming to do that is Team Suzuki Ecstar's Alex Rins, however the Spaniard's task has been made much more challenging after ending up 4th. He will start Sunday's Valencia Grand Prix from 14th on the grid.
Repsol Honda's Alex Marquez put in a herculean performance after getting back out on track just minutes after being viciously spat from his Honda RC213V in a horrendous highside.
