VR46 Academy postpone Portimao test due to bad weather

Valentino Rossi and co won't be in Portugal today and will instead head to the Algarve rollercoaster next week

Valentino Rossi (Petronas Yamaha SRT) and his protégés were due to be tackling the Algarve International Circuit at the moment, as they looked to ramp up their pre-season preparations. However, bad weather in the south of Portugal has forced the Italians to postpone their two-day test until next week.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, VR46 Academy Manager and long-time sidekick of The Doctor, Uccio Salucci, confirmed that heavy rain put a spanner in the works: "We were going to have to leave for Portimao tonight, but instead we are thinking of postponing the Academy tests to next week because the weather conditions are really disastrous. If we have to go to Portugal and then be unable to do anything, we prefer to just move the date."

Stay tuned to motogp.com next week for more information as Rossi, Petronas Yamaha SRT's Franco Morbidelli, Ducati Team's Francesco Bagnaia, SKY Racing Team VR46's Luca Marini plus more tackle the Algarve rollercoaster.
