Foggia leads an all Italian FP1 charge

The Leopard racing man was comfortably quickest in the opening session of the weekend ahead of Romano Fenati and Niccolo Antonelli

Dennis Foggia is comfortably clear at the top of the Moto3™ timesheets following FP1 at the Octo Grand Prix of San Marino, with the Leopard Racing rider’s 1:42.009 giving him more than three-tenths to spare over compatriots Romano Fenati (Sterilgarda Max Racing Team) and Niccolo Antonelli (Avintia VR46 Academy).

Andrea Migno (Rivacold Snipers Team) makes it an Italian top four with Deniz Öncü (Red Bull KTM Tech3) rounding out the top five. Aragon GP winner Foggia edged out Öncü to victory last time out, and his start on Friday morning may come as a concern to Championship top two Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Ajo) and Sergio Garcia (Gaviota GASGAS Aspar Team), neither of whom could crack the top 10, as the Italian continues to close the gap to the top.

It was a better morning for the title leaders’ teammates, with Izan Guevara (Gaviota GASGAS Aspar Team) and Jaume Masia (Red Bull KTM Ajo) just behind Tatsuki Suzuki (SIC58 Squadra Corse) in P7 and P8 respectively, while Xavi Artigas (Leopard Racing) and Gabriel Rodrigo (Indonesian Gresini Racing Moto3) complete the top 10.
