Zarco leads Bagnaia on Friday morning

Despite the pair crashing in the opening MotoGP™ Free Practice session of the weekend, Johann Zarco (Prima Pramac Racing) leads Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) so far at the Monster Energy British Grand Prix as the duo dip into the 1:59s – the only riders to do so. 2019 British GP winner Alex Rins (Team Suzuki Ecstar) finished FP1 in third, 0.327s down on Zarco’s time.

Zarco crashed at Stowe corner heading into the final 15 minutes of the session while Pecco was an early crasher at Turn 4; both riders were perfectly alright and bounced back in style at the end of the 45-minute stint.

Fourth place went the way of Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™) who also encountered some drama. The Frenchman had an issue with his YZR-M1 heading onto the Wellington Straight in the early exchanges but after getting a helping hand back to his box by Jack Miller (Ducati Lenovo Team) – who else? – it was quickly sorted by his Yamaha crew. Quartararo was seen practising the Long Lap penalty ahead of Sunday’s race too, a big talking point this weekend.

Takaaki Nakagami (LCR Honda Idemitsu) completed the top five ahead of the two Aprilia Racing machines, Aleix Espargaro leading Maverick Viñales, as we now look forward to FP2 getting underway at 14:10 local time (GMT+1).
