Di Giannantonio reveals new MotoGP™ number

The Italian, usually sporting 21, will use a new number for his maiden MotoGP™ voyage

Fabio Di Giannantonio (Team Gresini Racing MotoGP) has revealed which number he will use in MotoGP™ for next season and beyond. The Italian – whose hero is Troy Bayliss – usually sports the number 21, a number synonymous with Ducati legend Bayliss. However, with Franco Morbidelli (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) already using 21 in the premier class, Diggia has been forced to use another number to slap on the front of his Ducati.

With the help of American actor Will Smith – in a jokey, edited video from the film ‘Men in Black’ – Di Giannantonio confirmed he’ll race with the number 49 in the premier class. Diggia was the fastest rookie at the 2022 pre-season Jerez Test ahead of the winter break, finishing a very impressive 1.6s shy of Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) on his Ducati debut.

We’ll have to wait until the Sepang Test to see Diggia and his new number 49 in action again, as the Italian gets set to have a successful season alongside two-time 2021 podium finisher Enea Bastianini in the Gresini ranks.
