Honda and Yamaha go private testing at Mugello

Mir, Marini, Nakagami, Zarco, Quartararo and Rins, plus test riders Bradl and Crutchlow, are busy in Italy ahead of the Catalan GP next weekend

Straight after the French GP and ahead of the upcoming double-header in Barcelona and Mugello, the latter is hosting a private test where Honda and Yamaha’s full-time MotoGP™ riders are busy working to find improvements.

All four Honda riders – Repsol Honda’s Joan Mir and Luca Marini, plus LCR Castrol/Idemitsu’s Johann Zarco and Takaaki Nakagami – are on track at the iconic Italian layout, with test rider Stefan Bradl joining his stablemates ahead of his wildcard appearance at the Catalan GP.

Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™’s Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins are also putting in the laps, as Yamaha test rider Cal Crutchlow joins the duo in Italy. Crucial work is taking place for both Japanese manufacturers as they utilise their concessions allowance to try and bridge the gap with their European counterparts.

And speaking of European factories, one team has joined Honda and Yamaha at Mugello for some private test action – Aprilia Racing, as test rider Lorenzo Savadori also spins some important laps.
