Alonso sets the pace ahead of Farioli in France

Moto3™ kicked off an exciting weekend at the Michelin® Grand Prix de France with David Alonso (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team) ending the session quickest, breaking the lap record in the process. The Colombian jumped to the top spot with 20 minutes to go and continued to improve to set an unbelievable 1:40.792. Filippo Farioli (SIC58 Squadra Corse) had a great start to the weekend in second, ending Friday morning as the fastest Honda, after improving in the closing stages of the session. Behind the Italian was MLav Racing’s Scott Ogden, who found time in the final five minutes to leap into third position – 0.987s adrift from the top spot.

Daniel Holgado (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3) was fourth at the end of Free Practice – setting 18 laps across the session. Tatsuki Suzuki was fifth, hoping to add to the Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP’s success from the Spanish GP. Further down the order, Matteo Bertelle (Kopron Rivacold Snipers Team) became the first crasher of the weekend, falling at turn 3 – ending the session in 23rd. Angel Piqueras (Leopard Racing) fell later in the session – losing the front at turn 11 before Ivan Ortola (MT Helmets – MSI) and Tatchakorn Buasri (Honda Team Asia) also crashed in the final five minutes.
