Fenati suspended from VR46

Moto3™ title contender sits Austria out, future unknown

Romano Fenati has been suspended from Sky Racing Team VR46 ahead of race day at the Austrian GP, for behavior not in line with the disciplinary rules of a team. The Italian, who currently sits third in the Moto3™ world championship standings behind leader Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Ajo) and P2 man Jorge Navarro (Estrella Galicia 0,0), will not line up on the grid for Sunday’s race.

The Italian’s suspension is currently in place for the Austrian GP, with further discussions about Fenati’s future set to take place after the NeroGiardini Motorrad Grand Prix von Österreich.

Pablo Nieto, Team Manager of Sky Racing Team VR46: "Taking out a rider from the team is never good news but there are rules, norms within the team and he didn't comply with it. We won't get into specifics, but we decided to make this point as a disciplinary measure. For now the suspension is only for Austria, but we have to look further into it. We just took this decision yesterday and we have to further assess the situation but it looks that could be for all season. At this stage, it's too early to talk about a potential replacement."
