Before the Austrian GP, Scott Redding (Octo Pramac Yakhnich) had crossed the line P4 in the previous two races, including a podium in Assen. In the dry with a more level playing field at the Red Bull Ring, the Brit took his Ducati to a top 8 finish and into parc ferme as the top independent team rider.

Scott Redding (P8): “I’m very happy with the race. I had to work hard with the mapping to get through the race with fuel, and it was a good battle with Smith because I was gaining on the straights but he could make it up in some other areas. The track conditions didn’t change much during the race but enough to be able to feel it. Before the race, I thought I’d be happy with top 8 and to have been able to take the team into Parc Ferme was really satisfying.”
