Bruised Petrucci takes top ten finish

The Octo British Grand Prix saw the Italian finish in ninth place

Danilo Petrucci had an eventful build up to the visit to Silverstone, missing two days of training after an accident in Italy riding his father’s scooter left him with a number of bad cuts and grazes. Although he has been in some discomfort since the incident the Pramac Ducati rider was not overly hampered in Sunday’s 12th MotoGP™ race of the season as he brought it home in the top ten.

The Italian rider, who got his only MotoGP™ podium to date at the British Grand Prix last year, qualified 14th on the grid for this year’s race and maintained that position in the restart after an initial red flag.

As the shortened race continued he worked his way past the likes of Eugene Laverty and Jack Miller but the gap to the riders in front, Aleix Espargaro and Jorge Lorenzo, was too big to pull back and Petrucci would eventually finish ninth.

Danilo Petrucci: “We managed to finish in the top ten and that is good. Finally, the circuits where I have more difficulties are finished and I am looking forward to going to Misano, a track that I see from my window. I wanted to catch Lorenzo but he was too far away. I thank the whole team for the work they have done in this GP. We have not given up, we are very united and it is great to work with them.”
