Di Giannantonio and Martin at Gresini in 2017

'Diggia' stays, with Jorge Martin set to replace Bastianini

Gresini Racing Moto3 have announced their Moto3™ line up for 2017, with rookie Fabio Di Giannantonio set to stay in the team for his second season, to be joined by former Red Bull Rookies Cup winner Jorge Martin. Di Giannantonio is enjoying an impressive first year in the world championship, with a first podium in Mugello and collecting 92 points over the last seven races - a statistic only beaten by championship leader Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Ajo). Ambitions are big for the young Italian rider going into his second season.

Martin debuted in the world championship in 2015 as the reigning Red Bull Rookies champion, and took an impressive haul of points in his rookie year. Showing great progress, Martin also recently took his first podium finish at the Czech GP, coming home second. The Spaniard will replace outgoing Enea Bastianini in the team.

Fabio Di Giannantonio: “I’m happy to continue my path in the World Championship with Gresini Racing: in this my first season I’m finding very well and honestly I never expected to grow so much and to get similar results. The team helped me a lot to achieve this and to be able to face the next season working with the same group of people is undoubtedly positive and puts us in the ideal position to grow even more together and try to get big results. We want to do very well and we don’t want to leave anything to chance, so we will plan our winter training in the best possible way in order to kick off the 2017 season in great shape!”

Jorge Martin: “I’m very pleased to have the opportunity to become part of the Gresini Racing team, which has a rich history of great results. I felt the need to face a new challenge, with a new bike, to follow up my process of maturation and therefore I’m grateful for the trust that Gresini Racing placed in me. I’m highly motivated to do my best in order to achieve great results together, starting from next season: for sure we will form a great team, right from day one! I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Aspar Team, that two years ago, when I was just 16, gave me the chance to debut in the World Championship. Thanks to their dedication and trust I was able to grow as a rider and therefore I will never forget what they have done for me”.
