Viñales: "MotorLand is demanding but fun"

Team Suzuki Ecstar rider looks ahead to another home round

Spaniard Maverick Viñales is another rider on home turf as the MotoGP™ paddock returns to MotorLand Aragon this weekend, and has a good record at the track in the lower classes including a rookie Moto2™ victory from pole in 2014. His MotoGP™ rookie experience at the venue was a tough one - but the combination of man and machine have made big strides since Suzuki first returned to Grand Prix Racing and Viñales was in his first year of premier class competition. Fast forward a year and the victory in Silverstone is still fresh in the minds of the team and rider, followed up by a solid P5 finish from a front row start behind championship leader Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) in more difficult conditions in Misano: the scene is set for the 2013 Moto3™ world champion to head to another home GP full of confidence. With the hotter weather on the Riviera di Rimini having been a worry and then proved less problematic than feared, Aragon's lottery sees Viñales ready for either the cool conditions of Silverstone that saw him win - or the hotter days of Misano that saw him remain in the front-running group.

Maverick Viñales: “The Motorland circuit is a very interesting one, it has a variety of areas that make it a demanding but fun layout. We arrive here with a positive feeling, the victory at Silverstone gave us an extra injection of confidence and in Misano we did the best we could considering the conditions. Also, Aragon is tricky regarding the weather; it could be cold or extremely hot. Some races ago we were more worried about hot temperatures, but after Misano we can approach this with more confidence, as we finally proved we can be competitive in high temperatures; and that was one of the things we were worried about previously.”
