Marquez: "We improved the feeling a lot this afternoon"

Points leader led off the line before ending Day 1 at MotorLand in P2

Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) showed his characteristic, seemingly intrinsic pace around the 5.1km circuit of MotorLand Aragon in FP1 to top the timesheets by almost two tenths, before finding himself just nudged aside by the end of the day as teammate Dani Pedrosa hit back to lower the laptime further. Marquez, who has the best qualifying record at MotorLand by some margin, got his bid to finish the weekend "on the podium as a minimum" underway well on Friday, concentrating on race setup.

Marc Marquez (P2): "I'm happy because today we worked a lot on race setup. A lot with the hard rear tyre but maybe the soft could be an option - we will see. Everybody put in a new soft tyre at the end but we didn't. I'm happy because we improved feeling with the bike a lot this afternoon, especially on the last run, and we need to continue like this."
