Miller: “Phillip Island is a track I love”

Assen GP winner sits down with motogp.com ahead of his home race - the Australian GP

Jack Miller (Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS) made a big decision at the end of  2014 – taking the leap from Moto3™ to MotoGP™. Despite a tough season in 2015 and then having 2016 affected by injury, the Australian then got back to winning ways at the Dutch GP at Assen, taking an amazing win ahead of eventual World Champion Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team). Another injury later, this one to his right hand, Miller was then back on track in Motegi once again – and is now gearing up for Phillip Island.

Jack Miller: “The hand feels a lot better, even after last weekend.  In Japan, being a hard braking track it was not easy that’s for sure. It feels a lot better already after near on a week of recovery and anyway, here in Phillip Island there’s not too many hard braking points so we should be alright.”

Phillip Island has seen a Miller win before – in Moto3™ in 2014 – and the home hero is looking forward to taking his RC213V for a spin at the spectacular track.

JM43: “It’s a track I love. I love riding at home and in front of the home fans, I’m looking forward to it that’s for sure. Last year we had a really good race here on the open Honda, this year we’ve got the factory satellite bike so this year I think we’re on for a good show, hopefully.”

After the incredible Island Battle last season, 2016 is now ready to try and live up to it - and Miller will be heading out for his first taste of the classic venue on his EG0,0 Marc VDS machine on Friday morning at 10:00 local time (GMT + 11).
