Lorenzo’s last dance in blue: “Saying goodbye won't be easy"

2010, 2012 and 2015 MotoGP™ World Champion prepares for his final race with Yamaha

Jorge Lorenzo (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) has spent nine seasons with Yamaha, in which time the ‘Spartan’ has won three MotoGP™ World Championships, 43 races, gained 106 podiums, and started from pole position 38 times – including his first ever premier class appearance in Qatar in 2008. Now, there is only one race remaining for Lorenzo to add another one to each of those tallies, as he prepares to move to the Ducati Team for 2017.

The winner at the Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana in 2010, 2013 and 2015, Lorenzo’s record in Cheste is only bettered by one man on the grid – Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda Team) – and the Mallorcan has his sights set on victory to say goodbye to Movistar Yamaha MotoGP in style, and secure third in the Championship in 2016. Then, on Tuesday, the 5-time World Champion will debut in red as he gets his first taste of the Ducati Desmosedici GP16 and begins a new chapter.

Jorge Lorenzo: “The season is almost over and finally we arrive to Valencia, where I have some good memories, especially last year when we were able to achieve our goal and become World Champion again. Valencia is going to be a very special race for me because after nine years with the Yamaha family I have to say goodbye and it won‘t be easy. I had a lot of good feelings with Yamaha and together we won a lot of races and titles… I would like to finish this season in the best way possible and that‘s with a victory, so I will do my best to try to win in Cheste and I will try to secure third position in the championship as well.”
