Marc & Alex Marquez complete Enduro del Segre

Marc and Alex Marquez took part in the Enduro del Segre event on Sunday in Ponts, Lleida, going back to their roots after having started their careers in the discipline when they first got on a bike. After six hours on the bike, both were happy with their performance and the experience – with the reigning MotoGP™ World Champion stating he’d be more than happy to compete further in the discipline should the opportunity arise.

Marc Marquez: “I had competed in enduro when I was little and that’s exactly what pushed me to compete in the Enduro del Segre. I’m a big fan of off-road and I wanted to go back to my childhood for a day, with the Moto Club Segre surrounded by my friends. It was a great experience.

“As soon as I started I paid for my inexperience because I got to a control before time and was penalized – so it was already lost. But later I did a great event in general, especially in terms of timing, which was very good. The trial is what cost me the most. In one I broke the engine cover and had to keep putting oil in – real enduro!

“I had a lot of fun and it was a great experience. If the opportunity came up again in the future after the MotoGP™ season is over – why not do it again?”

2014 Moto3™ World Champion Alex Marquez was equally happy with the day, having been convinced to take part by his brother Marc – left with no regrets.

Alex Marquez: “It was a fantastic experience. I enjoyed it and I suffered – moments of everything! The important thing was to finish and we did that. So I’m really happy.”
