Baz: “We're not so far away”

Frenchman gives his take on the Sepang test

Loris Baz (Reale Esponsorama Racing) will have a Ducati GP15 for the 2017 season, and the Frenchman had a solid Sepang test on the machine – despite it not being one of his favourite tracks. Putting in a best of 2:00.873 on Day 3, Baz leaves Sepang happy after having put a difficult second day behind him.

Next up is Phillip Island, where work on riding style and full fuel pace will continue as the Frenchman gets to grips with the GP15.

Loris Baz, P20: “In general I don’t think testing has gone badly. On Tuesday we tried a few things that didn’t work how we expected, but Wednesday went much better and I’m happy. I lowered my laptimes on a tyre that was more than ten laps old and when it was hotter – because of that I think it’s positive, because we’re not so far away and other than the second day, the feeling with the bike has been good. Now we’ll see how it goes in Australia, which is my favourite track and we still have a lot of things to try. I’m leaving Sepang positive, and it’s one of the most difficult tracks for me. We will have to keep working on my riding style to be smoother, and we have work to do to go faster with a full tank, because that’s costing me a little at the moment.”
