A 1:54.401 put Day 1’s fastest Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) in second on the third and final day of preseason testing in Qatar, with the Italian satisfied but wanting a little more on race pace. The 2016 Sepang winner remains confident ahead of the first race of the year, however.
The Ducati rider was also positive following the grand reveal of the Borgo Panigale factory’s aggressively-designed new “aero-fairing” on Day 2 – dubbed the “Hammerhead” – as the innovation dominated headlines.
Andrea Dovizioso, P2: “These three days of testing at Losail have been very interesting because every day we found different track and grip conditions which were very useful in preparation for the race at the end of the month. We went strongly but I am not entirely satisfied with my race pace, which despite being good, is not enough yet because Vinales was really quick. In any case we got through a lot of work and we confirmed a lot of things, so I am confident for the first round of the season.”
