Andrea Iannone (Team Suzuki Ecstar) has shown some good pace in 2017, but the Italian had a crash out of podium contention in Qatar and then a jump-start penalty in Argentina – making the Circuit of the Americas the first points finish for the 2016 Austrian GP winner so far this season.
A venue on which the Italian has ridden the Suzuki in testing, Jerez brings some more confidence for the ‘Maniac’ as it appears on the horizon – aiming to turn it around a little further and get back to the front.
Andrea Iannone: “I really hope this will be a positive race for us. Last year we did some testing here in Jerez and it left me with a positive feeling. Also the performance wasn’t bad. This gives me some real confidence for this race. We will need to work hard from the very beginning on Friday to fix some issues we have encountered, but we already have some ideas. I’d really like to end next Sunday with a smile on our faces.”
