Pedrosa: “We can’t think ahead, we just have to react”

Polesitter takes another podium in a much-improved weekend in Barcelona

Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda Team) looked good all weekend at the Catalan GP, and the ‘Baby Samurai’ took pole position followed by another podium to rake in a good haul of points at his home round.

In the lead off the line and then in the front group for the majority of the race, Pedrosa tried to manage his tyres as best possible in the scorching Spanish heat – then deciding to take the points for P3 as the feeling wasn’t quite the same on Sunday. Improved consistency is the game now, as the Championship continues to prove incredibly unpredictable.

Dani Pedrosa, P3: “I’m not disappointed. Overall it was a good weekend and we managed a difficult weekend well. Pole yesterday and podium today…much better than last weekend! Today was really difficult and I expected to do better, but unfortunately with the race tyres I couldn’t manage to be that little bit faster. I tried to save the tyres as much as I could, I could see the group was close on the pit board…Dovi was coming behind me and shutting the gas to not pass, so I knew it would be tough. I thought the rival for the race would be Marc but it was actually Andrea. Today wasn’t as good as yesterday but I didn’t crash, I wanted to take the points because the feeling wasn’t there. I’m happy because the Championship is difficult, everything is moving around a lot. Tomorrow we have a test and we’re looking forward to getting more consistent for every weekend. At this stage it’s all we can do. With this Championship we can’t think ahead, we just have to react to everything in the best way we can.”
