Mahindra Racing announce 2017 as their final Moto3™ season

Indian manufacturer will shift focus to electric racing efforts and withdraw from the MotoGP™ World Championship at the end of this season

Mahindra Racing, winner of three races in the 2016 Moto3™ World Championship, will end its participation in the series after the conclusion of the 2017 season. The move, announced by the USD19 billion Mahindra Group, is the result of a strategic shift in Mahindra Racing’s focus toward electric vehicle racing.

Mahindra entered MotoGP™ in 2011 to develop its technological expertise in two-wheelers and increase global brand recognition. In a very short period, Mahindra made its mark in the fiercely competitive Moto3™ category, with the MGP3O race bike recording a total of 13 podium finishes, including three race wins, against long-established opposition.

The Mahindra MGP3O will continue to participate in the Moto3™ World Championship until the end of the 2017 season with full engineering and on-track support from Mahindra Racing for the factory-backed Aspar team and its two customer teams, CIP and Peugeot Saxoprint.
