Bulega on top in FP1 despite crash

Mir begins the weekend in the top four, Fenati crashes out

Nicolo Bulega (Sky Racing Team VR46) topped FP1 at the Australian GP, just 0.074 seconds ahead of compatriot Enea Bastianini (Estrella Galicia 0,0). Bulega also crashed in the session when he slid out and made contact with Aron Canet (Estrella Galicia 0,0), but both riders were unscathed. Ayumu Sasaki (SIC Racing Team) was the fastest rookie in an impressive and close P3, just ahead of Championship leader Joan Mir (Leopard Racing).

The man challenging Mir and winner at Motegi, Romano Fenati (Marinelli Rivacold Snipers), had a tough first session with a crash and a time outside the top 20. For full results, click here!
