#MalaysianGP: How Marquez can win the World Championship

MM93 can take his fourth premier class crown in five years at Sepang - here's how he would need it to play out

Following his victory in Australia, Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) has the opportunity to take his fourth MotoGP™ world title at the Malaysian Grand Prix - something that would bring his Championship win rate up to 80% over the premier class seasons he has contested so far since 2013. Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) is now the only rider that can stop Marquez becoming World Champion:

  • If Dovizioso wins the race, then Marquez needs to finish second to become World Champion.

  • If Dovizioso finishes second, then Marquez needs to finish fourth or better to become World Champion.

  • If Dovizioso finishes third, then Marquez needs to finish eighth or better to become World Champion.

  • If Dovizioso finishes fourth, then Marquez needs to finish 11th or better to become World Champion.

  • If Dovizioso finishes fifth to seventh, then Marquez needs to finish no more than eight places further back to become World Champion.

  • If Dovizioso finishes lower than seventh, then Marquez will be the 2017 MotoGP™ World Champion.

Will he do it? Or will the ups and downs of 2017 see the fight roll on to the season finale? Find out on Sunday in the #MalaysianGP.
