Lüthi to miss Valencia, surgery this week

2017 Moto2™ runner up to undergo surgery and forced to pull out of the final round

Tom Lüthi’s (CarXpert Interwetten) season has come to a premature end in 2017 ahead of his graduation to MotoGP™, with the Swiss rider crashing during qualifying at the Malaysian GP and effectively breaking his left foot - missing the race. He was also forced to cede his chance at the Championship, and will now undergo surgery this week.

The Swiss veteran will therefore be forced to miss the season finale at Valencia.

Frédéric Corminboeuf, Team Manager: “Tom will undergo surgery this weekend. The injury to the talus is relatively serious and he will need to rest, and miss Valencia. So we conclude three amazing seasons in which we’ve been runner-up twice. He has much more career ahead of him and I hope with all my heart that he will regain his full form as soon as possible to start his adventure in MotoGP ™ in the best way. I also want to take this opportunity to toast the incredible season of Franco Morbidelli, an exceptional competitor. What he has achieved this year is incredible. We have fought hard against this extremely professional team and I am convinced that it has been very rewarding for everyone.”
