2018 Team Presentation: Gresini get in gear

Gresini Team Presentation in Modena kicks 2018 into gear

Del Conca Gresini Moto3 staged their 2018 Team Presentation on Tuesday, with both Jorge Martin and Fabio Di Giannantonio on hand in Modena as the clock keeps ticking down to lights out.

Martin, who took nine pole positions in 2017 and a maiden win in Valencia, is a title favourite – and teammate Di Giannantonio came on stronger and stronger as last season wore on. Already multiple-time podium finishers, both Del Conca Gresini Moto3 riders are sure to be fighting at the front this year.

“I’m really happy to be able to continue my World Championship journey with Team Del Conca Gresini Moto3,” says Martin. “I think with last year’s experience and such a competitive and friendly team we can definitely battle for the title this year. The goal will be to win races and see if towards the end of the year we’ll be in contention for the ultimate prize. Testing so far has been great and I can’t wait to get back on track aboard this bike!”

Teammate ‘Diggia’, meanwhile, is focusing more on a step forward rather than a concrete target. “2018 will be my third year in the series and I really want to do well,” explains the Italian. “After two good years, we need to step up our game. I don’t want to be under any illusion and just keep my head down and work hard like we did in the recent tests at Valencia and Jerez. We already found some interesting settings which give us great hopes, ideas and thoughts for the season start in Qatar. We want to improve race by race and do better than last year. That’s what it means to be racing with Gresini Racing Team, a team that allows you to improve and grow as a rider; I’m sure we will not disappoint.”

Team Manager Fausto Gresini is also aiming high – and says they have what it takes to win.

“This is going to be without a doubt a very important season for Team Del Conca Gresini and we have great hopes for 2018,” says Gresini. “We have two great, fast and motivated riders, who are ready for this championship and supported by an experienced and well-jelled team. Fabio and Jorge now have the experience to aim high and have a very competitive bike disposal – as well as very supportive sponsors. I would like to thank them all – first of all Del Conca, who has been our title sponsor for two years now – for their enthusiastic approach and will to succeed with us. We worked very hard during the winter to improve our platform and effort and I think we have everything needed to do great things. We expect to be fighting for the title and we have what it takes to win.”

That will be put to the test on the 17th March, when Moto3™ do battle for the first time this season.
