Redding & Aprilia: what does the future hold?

Romano Albesiano confirms the Brit has the offer of a testing role

Aprilia Racing Manager Romano Albesiano has confirmed that Scott Redding has been offered the role of test rider from 2019, with Andrea Iannone arriving next season to partner Aleix Espargaro in the race team and the youngest ever GP winner therefore currently without a seat. But the Italian is as yet unsure as to whether Redding will accept:

Albesiano

"It's an opportunity we've offered him," affirms Albesiano. "Because he works well and we like him as a person, but he's young and we know he wants to race. In case he does want to become a test rider though, it would be a great opportunity for us both."

It's something the Brit is reportedly considering, and something that Espargaro was also pushing for. And in other news for the Noale factory, they seem close to a renewal with the Gresini Team.

"For both of us the idea is to continue," says the Aprilia man. "And to continue this all-Italian project! We're discusing it and close to a renewal."

We'll have more updates as soon as they're available - as will Redding on social media, where the Brit has been canvassing opinion...
