Vierge joins EG 0,0 Marc VDS in Moto2™ for 2019

Spaniard will race alongside compatriot Alex Marquez in the intermediate class squad

Xavi Vierge has been announced as an EG 0,0 Marc VDS rider for next season. The Spaniard, who first raced in the Moto2™ World Championship in 2015, has since become a regular frontrunner – as well as having taken the honour of ‘Rookie of the Year’ after his first full season in the class.

The announcement sees Vierge join Alex Marquez in one of the most successful teams in Moto2™ as a new era of competition is ushered in with the arrival of a new engine supplier for 2019, with both aiming high.

“I’m very happy about this new project,” says Vierge. “Since I arrived in the Championship, Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS has always been a reference for me – their riders are fighting for wins every weekend. I’m very grateful for this opportunity, grateful to both the team and their sponsors. I think the work teams put in will be pivotal next season with the arrival of the new engine in Moto2, which will be new for everyone. I also have a great relationship with Alex Marquez and I think teamwork can make the difference.”

“Xavi Vierge’s progression in his relatively brief stint in Moto2 has shown his talent and competitiveness, as well as giving us a glimpse of his future,” adds team owner Marc Van der Straten. “Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS has always had riders capable of getting to the top in the Moto2 World Championship, and we think that, alongside Alex Marquez, we have a fantastic line up of riders for next year.”
