GP Commission: replacement riders now need approval

The Grand Prix Commission have made some changes to the rules regarding replacement riders in all classes and pit lane starts

The Grand Prix Commission, composed of Messrs. Carmelo Ezpeleta (Dorna, Chairman), Paul Duparc (FIM), Herve Poncharal (IRTA) and Takanao Tsubouchi (MSMA), in an electronic meeting held on 21 September 2018 made the following decisions:

Sporting Regulations: effective immediately 

Substitute and Replacement Riders, All Classes

Riders proposed by teams as contracted riders for the season are subject to approval by the Selection Committee. However, it is not currently specifically stated in the regulations that the appointment of a substitute or replacement rider is also subject to Selection Committee approval. The regulation will be modified to require that all such riders must be approved by the Selection Committee. 

Starting Races from Pit Lane

Following recommendations from the Safety Commission, it has been decided that, for safety reasons, it is not permitted to use Launch Control settings when starting the race from Pit Lane.
