Moto2™, Moto3™ teams go testing in Valencia

A selection of intermediate and lightweight class teams headed to the Circuit Ricardo Tormo to kick off their 2019 campaign

It’s not just the MotoGP™ teams and riders who are getting preparations for 2019 back underway this week. At the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, a selection of Moto2™ and Moto3™ teams are putting in the work after the winter break.

A total of 20 lightweight class riders headed out in good conditions in Valencia. Among them were Aron Canet (Max Racing Team), the returning Romano Fenati (Team O), Darryn Binder (CIP – Green Power), rookie Filip Salac (Redox PruestelGP), Niccolo Antonelli (SIC58 Squadra Corse), Lorenzo Dalla Porta (Leopard Racing) his teammate Marcos Ramirez, Angel Nieto Team Moto3 riders Albert Arenas and Raul Fernandez, Kaito Toba (Honda Team Asia) and his teammate Ai Ogura.

Alonso Lopez (Estrella Galicia 0,0), teammate Sergio Garcia and Vicente Perez (Reale Avintia Academy 77) all crashed – riders ok.

In the Moto2™ class, Alex Marquez (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) suffered the only crash of the day. The Spaniard was unhurt, with teammate Xavi Vierge getting to grips with the team and the Triumph engine too. Elsewhere, Pons HP40’s Lorenzo Baldassarri and Augusto Fernandez were present, along with Angel Nieto Team's Jake Dixon and Xavi Cardelus. 

The unofficial test continued on Thursday, with the riders out on track between 10:00 and 17:00 local time.
