Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 riders have made a return to action following the winter break, and amidst their preseason tests they attended the official team presentation in Madrid on Monday. The 300-year-old Royal Tapestry Factory, founded by King Felipe V in 1721, was the venue for the unveiling – with quite a host of riders and categories to present!

Estrella Galicia 0,0, in collaboration with Monlau Repsol Technical School and the Belgian Marc VDS team, will participate in the Moto2™ and Moto3™ World Championships, as well as the new FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup.

That’s not all. They will also be represented in the FIM CEV Repsol Moto3™ Junior World Championship and the European Talent Cup, as well as the RFME Spanish Championship.

In Moto2™, Alex Marquez will once again be part of the Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS team. A podium regular and race winner, the 2014 Moto3™ World Champion will be aiming to mount a title challenge this year. The new face alongside him is Xavi Vierge and after some impressive performances, he’s looking to challenge for wins and top honours in 2019, too.

In Moto3™, meanwhile, Alonso Lopez begins his second season in the World Championship, having spent his formative years as an Estrella Galicia 0,0 rider too. He wants to fight for his first win this year, and he’s joined by Sergio Garcia Dols. Garcua moves up to Grand Prix Racing after finishing runner-up in the Moto3™ Junior World Championship in 2018, where he was the rider with the most race wins. The two were teammates in the Estrella Galicia 0,0 Junior Team in 2017 as well.

For the FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup, there’s a flag change and it’s the Marseillaise the team would be delighted to hear from the podium. Frenchman Mike Di Meglio, 2008 125 World Champion, is the team’s representative in the new class and he’ll be aiming to add even more success to the team’s illustrious history elsewhere.

The Junior Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 will be back on the grid in the Moto3™ Junior World Championship with three promising young riders, too, with Daniel Holgado joined by Julian Giral and Ryusei Yamanaka. Giral joins the Junior Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 after riding in the European Talent Cup in 2018, Yamanaka after having competed in the final three rounds of the Moto3™ Junior World Championship. An alumnus of the Asia Talent Cup, he also finished sixth in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup last year.

The European Talent Cup will once again feature the Talent Team Estrella Galicia 0,0, with a three-rider lineup of Jose Antonio Rueda, Adrian Cruces and Brazilian Diogo Moreira, and the Monlau Repsol Technical School Team will compete in the RFME Spanish Championship with three riders in the Moto4 class: Brian Uriarte, Ángel Piqueras and Pol Solá.

“I am very happy to be here for another year, and see the bike with the new colours,” says Alex Marquez, Moto2™ rider. “The team are giving me a lot of confidence and preseason is going very well, so I’m really happy and can’t wait for the fun to start. I’m ready. When we’re in race mode we will see what we need to push more with, to adapt to the new engine, but right now I feel prepared. The team are very clear about everything and we are all very motivated. I think that we have everything to have a very good year. Everyone who comes up through the Estrella Galicia 0,0 pyramid focuses on the highest level, and Moto2 is the pinnacle at the moment. It’s special, but it’s still a responsibility. Knowing that the kids use you as a point of reference is undoubtedly a motivation to keep working.”

“I am very happy, because the presentation today is one step further for this great project,” adds teammate Xavi Vierge. “I’m very excited about sharing this moment with everybody who supports us. I love the new design and how the colours look on me! Now we have to focus on the work that we have ahead. There are six more days of testing remaining before the first race, and we have to make the most of them. We’ve worked well up until now, and we have to continue in the same way. My aim is to be fighting for the top spots from the first race onwards, and get to the end of the season in with a chance of the title.”

“It’s a great pleasure for me to form part of the Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS team,” states Mike Di Meglio, MotoE™ rider. “It’s an honour to be on such a prestigious team. I said ‘yes’ to the MotoE offer because I know that in this team, when they start something they give their all. I was clear that they weren’t just making up the numbers, and that they wanted to be competitive and fight for the title. The objective for the season is to finish inside the Top 3 in every race. If we manage that, then the title with be within our reach.”

“After my first season in Moto3 last year, I’m very keen to get back to competing,” begins Alonso Lopez, Moto3™ rider. “I’m especially motivated because now I know all of the circuits. I hope to take a step up with my performance that allows me to be amongst the best right from the opening races, as it’s important to get good results from the start and be consistent throughout the season.”

“I can’t wait to start my first season in the World Championship,” says Sergio Garcia, Moto3™ rookie. “I’ve given my all to get here, and I have to give special thanks to Estrella Galicia 0,0, who have supported me throughout my career. I hope to be lucky and adapt quickly to the many circuits that I don’t know, but that will be just one of the difficulties that I will have to face. I have the strength to do it and I’m counting down the hours to get back on track again at Jerez this week.”

"It is very special to be celebrating our tenth anniversary! During this past decade we have experienced all kinds of moments,” adds Marc Van der Straten, Owner Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS Moto2. “We have celebrated the good moments and taken those that have not been so good. We have achieved many podiums, many victories and two World Championships, all of them providing very beautiful milestones, but we have not finished yet.

“This year we have reinforced, rejuvenated and returned to the spirit that characterised us in our beginnings in Moto2. We also return to the original MarcVDS colours alongside those of Estrella Galicia 0,0, our always faithful companion to whom I feel an immense gratitude for their loyalty and constant will to move forward together, along with young and promising talents. This year we have a lot of talent in the form of three big names, in Alex Márquez, Xavi Vierge and Mike di Meglio. I am convinced that, together, we will enjoy a very good season full of podiums and -why not?-, a third World Championship title. We are impatient and eager to start the season."

“This season we’re back with the same strength and desire to support young talents to reach their objectives,” says Emilio Alzamora, Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Moto3 Team Principal. “Alonso López will take part in his second season in the World Championship, and we are confident that he will fight for podiums and consistency. Sergio García Dols will be rubbing shoulders with much more experience, which will be very good for his growth as a rider. In the Moto3 Junior World Championship, the European Talent Cup and the RFME Spanish Championship we also have some promising riders who are justifying the solid support that Estrella Galicia 0,0 receive for taking riders from grassroots level to the top of racing.”

“I’ve been looking forward to this moment, in which we see the fruits of our winter work,” adds new arrival Joan Olive, Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS Moto2 Team Coordinator. “I feel very lucky to be part of a project like this, made up of professionals who I know will give their all to achieve their objectives. The team are extremely high level, so our aim can be nothing less than to fight for the top spots. We don’t know what the final result will be, but our mentality is to go out and compete for everything in both Moto2 and MotoE. This is not just any project -it’s more special, as we are part of a big family. Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS are at the peak of the pyramid of great talent. We will look to do our best in Moto2, but will always be looking to help those in the smaller classes in everything possible.”

The season for the structure starts soon – and testing will get back underway later this week for Moto2™ and Moto3™ at Jerez.
