Arenas suffered a trauma to the lower right side of his chest. A clinical examination and CAT scan in hospital confirmed the following injuries:

- Laceration of spleen with active bleeding
- Fracture of the sixth right costal arch
- Various bruises and abrasions

On Monday night Arenas underwent a procedure overseen by Dr Muxart that involved the embolisation of the bleeding vessels in order to avoid the necessitation of a spleen removal. Arenas will be kept in the Intensive Care Unit for between 24 and 48 hours.
