FIM CEV Repsol season picks up speed in Valencia

It’s time for Round 2 after the season kicked off in spectacular style at the Circuito Estoril

This weekend the Circuit Ricardo Tormo of the Comunitat Valenciana hosts the second round of the FIM CEV Repsol with a programme of two races in both Moto3™ and the European Talent Cup, in addition to the ETC S2, and a single race in Moto2™.

The FIM CEV Repsol 2019 season began in poor weather in early April at the Estoril Circuit in Portugal with victories for Barry Baltus (Sama Qatar Angel Nieto Team) in the FIM Moto3™ Junior World Championship, Niki Tuuli (Team Stylobike) and Alessandro Zaccone (Promoracing) in the Moto2™ European Championship and Iván Ortolá (Sama Qatar Angel Nieto Team) twice in the ETC.

Baltus took the first Moto3™ win of the season followed by Xavier Artigas (Leopard Impala Junior Team) and José Julián García (Fau55 El Señor de las Bolsas). The Sama Qatar Angel Nieto Team rider will be defending his position as leader of the Moto3™ JWC rankings against a group of rivals including Jeremy Alcoba (Laglisse Academy), who took the pole in Estoril but finished fifth in the race behind Mario Suryo Aji (Astra Honda Racing Team).

In Moto2™, Niki Tuuli (Team Stylobike) arrives at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo as the leader of the category after a brilliant weekend in Estoril: he took victory in the first race despite a wet track, and was runner-up in the second race behind Alessandro Zaccone (Promoracing), who trails him in the overall standings ahead of Edgar Pons (Baiko Racing Team). Pons, who was the poleman, was on the podium in both races: second in the first race and third in the second. In Superstock 600 Joan Diaz (DCR Racing Team) leads the overall classification but by only three points over Alessandro Zetti (Fau55 El Señor de las Bolsas).

Iván Ortolá will be riding on home ground as the undisputed leader of the ETC after his double win in the opening round in Portugal. The Sama Qatar Angel Nieto Team rider leads the table with 50 points, 23 ahead of Marcos Ruda (Cuna de Campeones) and 24 ahead of Fenton Seabright (Wilson Racing) in third place.
