De Puniet looking forward to a “great fight” in MotoE™

Frenchman spoke on Friday at the French GP about the up and coming FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup that begins at the Sachsenring

LCR E-Team’s Randy De Puniet is one of 18 riders who are eagerly awaiting the start of the inaugural FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup which kicks off at the German GP in July.

The two-time MotoGP™ podium finisher and five-time Grand Prix race winner spoke to motogp.com pitlane reporter Amy Dargan during Moto2™ FP1 in Le Mans about MotoE™, as we edge closer to the brand-new electric motorcycle racing series getting underway.

“Yeah I’m a little bit disappointed because I wanted to race here in front of the French crowd but the first race will be at the Sachsenring,” commented De Puniet. “I tried the bike here last year, I was alone on the track so I wanted to fight in front, like I said before, the crowd. But finally, we will go to the Sachsenring after testing after the Barcelona MotoGP. So everything should be ready to have a great fight.”

There’s a fantastic mix of personalities on the MotoE™ grid this season, with former World Champions and hugely experienced riders being joined by less experienced riders, of whom are equally capable of winning races. It’s a challenge De Puniet is relishing.

“Yeah it will be fun, with different types of riders. Some from Moto2, ex MotoGP riders, it will be interesting to see what we can do but for sure it will be nice to see because the gap between the top guys will be very close and we’ll have a great show.”

Valencia will host a MotoE™ test on the 17th June before the Sachsenring hosts Round 1 of the season on the 5-7 July.
